Hello! Namaskaram! And welcome to another article but this one is very special to me because today marks the one year anniversary of A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. But this post is not at all related to the current situation. I wanted to write about this from so long but even now everything is revolving around the coronavirus. Even talking about it all the time even here will eventually make me and you bored. So I've got something which is literally a social evil. Let's get into it, shall we?
Let me reval the theme. It's about problems women face in everyday world. Befor you get bored and leave right here, I want to make something clear. This is a real issue and it is not just a matter of the females. It is a humanitarian crisis and we as humans must address this. If you think this is a rant kind of article then please don't judge. I've got some references from Dil Dhadakne Do, Thappad, and my favourite youtuber Prajakta Koli's song No Offence.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a humanitarian crisis. We as humans are responsible for this. Gender bias, social discrimination, domestic violence, rape threat, internet trolls, judgements based on colour, dress, and the likes are all faced by women from many ages. Let me get a reference from the bhagavatha. The uncle of lord Krishna, Kamsa is a child of a woman who got raped in the forest. And we know how cruel he was to his own sister.
Speaking of equality, let's go to Dil Dhadakne Do film where Farhan Akhtar asks Priyanka Chopra that "are you happy?" In the presence of her husband played by Rahul Bose. Before Priyanka replies, Rahul interferes saying " what do you mean? Ofcourse she is happy. She has her own travel agency which is in the top in just 3 years. I gave her permission for that. I feel she is equal to me." Then Farhan replies "when she is taking permission from you to do what she wants how can that be equality? You are showing your superiority over her. Did you ask her permission to start your company?" And the cast goes silent and Ranveer Singh interrupts with a joke. I guess that explains what people think of equality now-a-days. Women must have their own choice and they can't ask permissions for everything they want to do.
Regarding domestic violence I would like to state a reference from one of the promotions Tapsee pannu did for her movie Thappad. She stated that " before every movie there will be a disclaimer which states ' no animals were harmed during the making of this film ' , why don't we have a disclaimer for domestic violence too?" I feel like the results of this desclaimer will have the same effect of the Rahul Dravid's run out.
Now let's talk about the sexist people in our society who believe that men are god's and women must be constricted to kitchen.
And here comes my favourite youtuber's reference. Prajakta Koli's song No Offence.
First there is this sexist uncle who says to Prajakta :
Beta bada udd rahi ho tum zara baith jaao
Duniya pe nahi to kum se kum khud pe rehm khaao
Dream big! Get a job saari kehne hi ke baaten
Ladki ho tum ladki jaise hi pesh aao
For this Prajakta replies:
I am God waali attitude hain tumhari
Kab tak bhaagoge sab dekh rahin hai mata
Raani
Must be nice to live a life to always get your way
Kahin equality se fatt ke haath pe thi nahi aari?
Then the says:
Gotta degree? Who's gonna pick
What do you mean? 'cause you got no d*ck
Naare feminism ke saare
What's wrong with being realistic?
Now Prajakta emerges with this savage reply:
You're lucky'cause you're born a boy, that's sick
Saath saath badhe aaage thujhe naahin raha dikh
Standing ovation ya maarun mein thaali 'cause your biggest accomplishment is your d*ck.
I've got two things to confess here.
Firstly, if you want to classify people based on body parts, why choose genitals rather than thinking abilities and other productive stuff.
Secondly, thinking that having a male genitalia is the greatness of the man is dumb. It's nature's creation.
Despite nature's gift to all the women, they work in every field on par with men. After all this do they need more problems ? I know this is a two sides statement. But I meant facing all the problems despite all the conditions nature has given them is not so easy. All they want is respect and as responsible men let's give them the respect they deserve.
Thankyou for taking your time out and reading the article. This was just like taking references and reflecting upon them but I wanted to do something of this kind. Give your suggestions in the comments down below. Stay home stay safe. #beatthevirus follow the lockdown rules. See you again.
