Hello and welcome back to another article. As I mentioned earlier on my Instagram story ( if you don’t follow me there please follow I insist @intoxication_loading) it’s about a rebellion. A fight that happens between democracy and communism. A fight for freedom and rights. A rebellion that happened in 2019 and this rebellion is something very remarkable. Let me tell you a back story of why I am writing about this now.

I’ve started reading news articles about the recent Indo Chinese conflicts on the LAC. One article mentioned that China is extending it’s borders towards India, Vietnam and Australia ( through sea ). China is doing this because there is a protest rising due to the economic slowdown. They did events like this earlier. The 1962 war with India was to supress the rebellion which started due to the 4 year long famine from 1958-62 where 14 million people died out of hunger but the Global Times never mentions this because it is a state run press media. This famine was under Mao Zedond's rule and the trend even continued in 1989’s Tianmen square protest in Beijing and today’s economic slowdown protests. Then in a YouTube recommendation box I got a video with a title “ HongKongers pay respects to the Martyrs of Beijing Tianmen square despite the protests on the 30th anniversary of the Tianmen square protests. It was uploaded a year ago and out of curiosity I watched the video and entered into a different world and collected as much information as I can to put infront of you and show you the plight of our world. Moving on.
Let us start from the beginning. A couple from HK went to Taiwan for a holiday and the male murdered his girlfriend and returned home and two weeks later he was caught and he confessed. But he wasn’t charged because the murder happened in Taiwan and not in Hong Kong. So the Pro Chinese government proposed the extradition law where people can be sent overseas to charge them. Now this might seem simple but it is not. Majority of the hongkongers are against China but the ruling party is Pro Chinese and the opposition is Pro democracy. This is because the people get to vote for only 40 seats of the 70 seats of the Hong Kong parliament. The remaining 30 are elected by business idols. These businessmen obviously opt for Pro Chinese party because China funds them. This extradition law will be a huge advantage for China to influence the people. They can easily take remove people who are against China and take them to China on “other basis” and make them disappear. This has happened in the past once illegally. A book store owner who was against Chinese ideology of one man rule kept selling books which oppose Chinese leaders. He disappeared into thin air and reappeared after two years on national television begging for forgiveness for a “mistake” he did by selling hate books on Chinese leaders. Now they’re about to make this legal. The protests were so intense with tier gas rubber bullets and much more.

I saw a person being burnt alive by the police just because he was shouting at them and expressing his hate towards the Chinese!! A student shot by a revolver by the police in the chest and the same police also shot another person who came in the rescue of the first. Parents started pleasing the police to stop killing their children and started another protest. These are the events which are reported. There are many which went unreported. Roads and highways burnt and fire all around. Intense bombings by the protestors and the police. Thousands of protestors getting arrested. Hundreds getting beaten by police in metro stations. Imagine an entire generation on streets to protect their future.

There are many ways protestors started hiding from getting tracked by the police so they started covering their entire face only deposing their eyes with goggles. Wrapping their national identity cards with aluminium foil so that they don’t get tracked. Blocking themselves with umbrellas so that the cameras cannot see them. Spray painting the CCTV cameras to block their view. Using laser lights to block cameras at higher altitude. Since it is not a one person lead revolt, there is a huge advantage for the protestors. If someone is killed or arrested the rage increases. If it was one person lead revolt then the government would attack that person and the protestors would lose hope. The protestors get messages about the location of the police through anonymous telegram groups so that even if there are any spies, they will not know the people who pass the information.

The protestors are majorly of the youth because their freedom and rights were at stake. Let us talk about something creative about these protests. The protestors occupied the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 17th November 2019 and made it their fortress against the Hong Kong police force. The police surrounded the university and tried to enter the University but they were given an attack by the protestors with petrol bombs. There is something special about these petrol bombs and vodka bombs. The protestors entered the University with a lot of beer bottles. They poured out the beer bottles and filled them with vodka and petrol. There was a training area for these protestors which is an Olympic swimming pool in the University. Very few people made it out of the University by sliding on a rope to a nearby highway where bikers would drop them but finally after a 3 days long standoff between the police and the protestors a thousand protestors were arrested and very few managed to escape.

After a 13 weeks of intense protests on 14th November, the government promised the withdrawal of the extradition law. And on 23rd November the Secretary of Security, Hong Kong John Lee announced the government's official withdrawal of the bill.
There are some recent developments in the areas. China which has proposed the new security law on May 21 this year. increases its influence in Hong Kong. Demonstrators are back again because they want their freedom which China is trying to snatch from Hong Kong.
This is not just about Hong Kong or the people of Hong Kong it is a humanitarian problem. If China keeps on increasing its influence around the world, then none of us will be able to speak for ourselves. We as citizens of the world should never lose what we have and what we deserve. China practically owns an entire country called Djibouti in Africa and China can make it a military base within no time. Djibouti is present in the Mediterranean sea which is a key for all the sea routes and trade.
The problem is not with the people of China. It is with the People’s Republic of China and the ideology they follow and impose on others. That sums up I guess. That was a lot to read but thank you for reading from A to Z of this article. It means a lot.
A word of gratitude to my best friend and the person who provided me with the photos. Deevan go follow him on instagram @deevan_joy_pritham for some good art works.
