THE IDENTITY WEAPON

Hey there, It's me back to the game after more than a year. A lot has changed. So did I. The thing that has sparked interest in me to get back to writing today is the political similarity of different geopolitical grounds at so many levels. This is not some new theory of mine that I propose. its just a world view of the juncture that we're at and I'm not blaming anyone for doing it. And yes its not about AI.    The word identity politics has been around since the last decade in India, thanks to Prashant Kishore. Today, the world, politically is at a crux where there are best of many sides playing against each other. But one remained emerging victorious. There is a pattern established to emerge as the winner. That is the game of identity politics.   People identify themselves with many things. from religion, caste, Sex, occupation, region, the language they speak, some people also say that they are an Indian first in an attempt to put the nation first. When I ...

There is no Caste in Blood

Sawasdi 👋 Hello. I'm writing again after two months because I was in a block for one month ( which by the is my longest block I ever had ) and the second month because I was in this hostel ( cum jail, whatever you'd like to call it ) where I had no access to the internet. Which again gave me a totally "Different Perspective" of where the society stands. To start with, I've been living under a rock that there is no discrimination on the basis of caste and friends don't become friends in the name of caste. But I was wrong. There is stuff like that.

Let me get started with this. Everyone asked me about the caste which I belonged to except two people. It doesn't stop there. People start calling you with the caste's name and not with your name. Then they start judging you because you belong to the same caste on the basis of something done by a person who belonged to the same caste as you do. I didn't choose to be born in this caste and its fine if you want to judge me on the basis of what some brain fucked person did. I don't care for that.

I once overheard people asking others not to talk to some people because they belong to the so called low caste. There are two things I'd like to mention. One, who is low and who is high? We are all equal in society. Equality is mentioned in the preamble of the constitution and the preamble is given in every social studies textbook. How did you miss that? Two, If you have something against the person have a deal with him. What did the others do? Why are you avoiding others because someone else did something?

Moving in, now I'd like to tell you about calling me ( yeah people calling me ) with my caste and not my name. I didn't like that I told the people who did that not to do it again. But no one care for the words of an introvert. It's not that I'm not proud of my ethnicity. It's just that I don't want everyone to remind me that I belong to certain caste everytime they call me. I have a name that my parents gave me and asked everyone to call me with it. So do the obvious. Why do you have to include something that I didn't have a choice about?

It's been more than 70 years since we mentioned "abolition of the caste system" in the Constitution of India. But here we are, still drawing borders between each other on the basis of caste. I'm grateful that I grew up in an environment where people don't judge each other on the basis of their caste. It's great that we didn't draw any lines because someone belonged to something. Now that I am in a world with greater problems than bullying and having no friends ( self plug ) I decided to bring this up here.

What can we do about that?

1. Whenever you meet a new person, talk to him about their home town or other stuff that really matters. Don't ask them about their religion or caste. Both of you have nothing to do with that.

2. If you see people who are feeling inferior because no one speaks to them properly as they belong to the so called low caste, to and talk to them about stuff you speak normally with other people.

I can go on and on about this but it's already too long to read. I have many other things to share with everyone here. I've made many observations on many things that I'd like to share. More coming up. Stay tuned.
